The Power of Microinteractions in UX Design — Maxiom Technology software insights

Microinteractions are small, contained product moments that accomplish a single task — a toggle animation, a hover effect, a notification badge. Individually trivial, collectively they define a product's feel. Effective microinteractions follow a four-part structure: trigger, rules, feedback, and loops.

Feedback microinteractions are the most important for usability — users need immediate confirmation of their actions. Delight-oriented microinteractions create emotional connections but require restraint. Performance is critical: the ideal duration is 100-300 milliseconds, and animations should degrade gracefully on lower-powered devices.
